Cavity Barriers / Acoustic Barriers
Buildings will frequently have open roof spaces, structural voids or concealed cavities. These open spaces offer extensive possibility for fire and smoke to travel all over the building unobstructed. Cavity barriers are compulsory to prevent the spread of fire and smoke within the walls, floors and ceilings.
Regulatory requirements demand that cavities and concealed spaces, in the structure or fabric of a building, are sub-divided or sealed by means of cavity barriers or fire-stopping materials to restrict the hidden spread of smoke and flames.
As well as providing a neighbouring path for flames, cavities also present other problems. For example, both thermal and acoustic issues can come into play creating a ‘triple threat’, which must be managed effectively in order to provide a safe and comfortable dwelling environment that complies with Building Regulations.
Fitz Heavey Fire Stopping offer a range of cavity barrier products and installation services. Our cavity barriers maintain integrity and performance over the lifespan of a building.
